Role and Responsibilities

As Financial Specialist, Kuahman supports financial tracking, account reconciliation, reporting, budgeting processes, financial documentation, data management, and other fiscal responsibilities necessary to support organized and responsible business operations.

He works collaboratively with S.L.A.T.E.’s leadership and administrative team to help maintain accurate financial systems and provide information needed to make responsible financial decisions.

Education and Professional Experience

Kuahman holds an Associate Degree in Accounting from Pierce College and is currently pursuing his Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting at the University of Washington Tacoma.

Professionally, Kuahman has worked as a Financial Representative within a supported-living setting, where he gained direct experience managing client budgets, coordinating disbursements, maintaining financial records, and supporting financial accountability. His background also includes data tracking, financial reporting, account reconciliation, client services, and team building.

Kuahman is bilingual in English and Spanish, strengthening his ability to communicate and connect with individuals and families from different backgrounds.

Personal Insight and Commitment

Kuahman’s connection to the disability community began long before his professional career. His younger brother is on the autism spectrum, and for more than 19 years Kuahman has been actively involved in supporting him through different stages of life.

Through years of family support, Kuahman has developed practical experience with daily routines, supportive communication, goal setting, problem-solving, encouragement, and fostering independence. These experiences inform his respectful, person-centered work at S.L.A.T.E.
